Most database driven applications such as case management systems rely upon some form of user input.  DB Viewer has been developed to maximise user efficiency by providing data entry screens that:-

• appear automatically during case flow activities (e.g. just before document creation)
• have data listed that is specific to the current task
• can display grouped information such as transactions
• use drop down lists where possible to improve accuracy
• perform data integrity checks (e.g. invalid dates, number values)
• have the ability to perform calculations

DB Viewer is a flexible web based interface that provides direct access to data held within SQL Server databases.  The server installation consists of several dynamic web pages that utilise the Microsoft .net framework.  The client (user) end is simply the web browser of your choice such as Internet Explorer.  This set-up means that installation, administration and support is kept to a minimum.

As the application is a true web application, screens are accessed by simply typing in the pages address (URL) in the address bar in a web browser.  Alternatively, pages can be opened from within other applications or documents via hyperlinks.  Many Case Management Systems provide the ability to open web pages automatically from within case flow activities.  Data is filtered by simply passing values such as Case ID's or Client and Matter Codes within the web pages address (URL). 

Fields can also be restricted or added by passing an additional field list in the URL.  Alternatively, XML documents can be utilised to customise views.  All this provides developers with enough control to create a suite of powerful data entry screens tailored to cater for many different scenarios with almost no code required.
